You need to be a Salesforce administrator. aduck works in Lightning Experience, in Enterprise, Unlimited, Performance and Developer Edition orgs and their sandboxes.
1. Install the package
The install link is being prepared. Check back soon.
- Log in with your administrator user. Use the production link for production and Developer Edition orgs, and the sandbox link for sandboxes.
- Choose Install for Admins Only and click Install. You give the users access in the next step.
- When Salesforce asks to approve third-party access, tick Yes, grant access to these third-party web sites and continue. aduck needs
api.aduck.noto generate documents andwww.aduck.noto finish the setup.
2. Give users access
In Setup, open Permission Sets, click Aduck User, then Manage Assignments and add everyone who should build templates or generate documents, including yourself.
3. Connect the org to aduck
- Open the App Launcher, choose the Aduck app and go to the Aduck Setup tab.
- Click Open aduck.no registration. aduck.no opens with your org's id filled in.
- Create an account, or log in if you have one already.
- Click Finish setup in Salesforce. You come back to the Aduck Setup tab, and the API key is saved for you. Nothing to copy or paste.
Sandboxes are connected the same way, from the Aduck Setup tab in the sandbox, with the same aduck account. Each org gets its own key; you see them all on your account page.
4. Add aduck to record pages
To generate documents from a record, open a record of the object you want (an Account, say), click the gear icon and Edit Page. Drag the Aduck Transform Runner component onto the page, then save and activate it. Repeat for each object you make templates for.
That's it. Next: build your first template.
Updates and uninstalling
To update, install from the link above again; your templates and settings are kept. To remove aduck, go to Installed Packages in Setup and uninstall it. Generated documents stay where they are, as ordinary Salesforce Files.
For developers
The app is open source. The code is on GitHub, if you'd rather read it first or deploy it with the Salesforce CLI.
